DAVE HOOPER

LEADER

I became a Christian in 1970 through attending a Navigators course.  Born and raised in Bournville, Birmingham, Helen & I moved near to Portsmouth in 1972 and were involved in setting up Portsdown Community Church in Havant, Hampshire. We moved to Wales in 1999.  Since joining Barmouth Elim Church I have become Manager of South Gwynedd Foodbank and particularly work in administration within the Church and Barmouth Oasis Community Group.

HELEN HOOPER

LEADER

I grew up in a Christian family attending a Baptist Church in Birmingham.  Dave & I married in 1968 and have three children and five grandchildren.  I oversee Revelation Bookshop and I am involved in numerous community activities during the week.  It is great to be part of the Leadership Team showing Jesus' love to the lost and hurting.

I was saved in 1988 and started to attend Barmouth Elim Pentecostal Church, joined YWAM in 2007 and did the DTS and IBC in the UK and Norway plus an outreach in Albania and Israel.  Since returning in 2008 God called me to stay in Barmouth I discovered a Pastor's heart and I began preaching in our church.  I have since married, have two lovely children and began the Ministry In Training in 2017, I'm currently half way through.

KATH SMITH

LEADER

I have always been a Believer, having been taken to Sunday school as a toddler in Sheffield.  I grew up in the same church but it wasn’t until I visited a Baptism Service in Lancashire where I was then living, that I became fully committed to Jesus.  I met my husband in Lancashire where we raised 3 daughters. When they became independent Bob and I moved to Harlech a place we loved and knew well. I found Barmouth Elim church almost by accident and now am blessed and privileged to serve the Fellowship under our Pastor Dawn.

CAROL  JONES

LEADER

I came to Barmouth in 1980 to operate a restaurant which became the Captain's Table.  I was saved in 1988 during a visit from Evangelists from the Don Double Campaign and became a founder member of Barmouth Elim Church, originally meeting at the back of the Dragon Theatre.  I am currently the Centre Manager at Elephant Works, which includes Oasis Nursery, and have been part of the counselling team for about years, assisting Rev Dawn in her ministry.

LEADERS

From its early beginnings God has told us that if we provide the space - 'He will fill it'.  We have seen the Church and Oasis Nursery take on the lease for most of the ground floor of Elephant Works, more activities taking place during the week and the introduction of a six strong Leadership Team.

As Leaders, we seek to serve God in all aspects of church life, supporting one another, encouraging the body and reaching out to the community.

The Church has now reached a point where it has outgrown the space currently available and we definitely need to enlarge our borders.  God is so gracious that He has provided the opportunity for us to purchase the whole building which will double our accommodation.
